Functional Trainer

The Body Solid Functional Trainer GDCC210 was developed with equal emphasis on form and function to perform cable crossover exercises and any exercise you would perform with dumbbells. This fitness machine takes up limited floor space for the unlimited exercises you can accomplish. By adding a simple multi purpose bench, you increase the exercise options for upper and lower body. www.fitnessrush.com offers the Body Solid GDCC210 with shipping included today for $1399.
With this Functional Trainer you can perform lower body exercises such as abductor or adductor movements by utilizing the ankle strap provided standard with the machine. If you choose to purchase an additional ankle strap you then can do the movements with an iso lateral action meaning do an exercise movement on one leg then the other to turn up the intensity a bit and raise your cardio performance while strength training. You can also do leg extensions by utilizing the same strap on your ankle, stepping away from the Body Solid Functional Trainer until you have a bit of resistance then raise your knee to hip height then extend your leg straight in front of you. This movement will not require much weight and you will instantly find out you are working your core while strengthening legs.
I have one of the Body Solid Functional Trainers in my gym and some days my workout partner and I exclusively workout on this machine for great functional training. Once you begin to workout on the GDCC210 you will find out if your concerned about using several of the weight plates that your form will suffer and in turn your results will not be what you expect. Concentrate on form and great Functional Training results will soon follow while on the Body Solid Functional Trainer. To perform hamstring exercises, add your anticipated weight and step away from the machine, once you have resistance on your ankle strap, keep your knee aligned with your body and simply bring your heel toward your buttocks. When you perform this movement correctly the resistance will let you know exactly which areas you are working. This leg curl movement will isolate your hamstrings, buttocks, and core with each repetition.
The Body Solid GDCC210 Functional Trainer comes standard with 160 pounds of weight plates on each side for a total of 320 pounds to make your body strong and fit. There is another 50 pounds available which you can add to the weight stack should you feel the need to perform iso lateral movements with more than 160 pounds. Initially I have this added 50 pounds for the Body Solid Functional Trainer I use but until I get proficient with the 160 pound stack I will not add the extra resistance.
The first day my workout partner and I used the GDCC210 Functional Trainer we both experienced muscle awareness we hadn't felt in some time. We have been working out regular and to feel a new awareness on muscles we thought we had been training properly was a nice surprise and one which encourages me to use the Functional Trainer daily during each of my strength training routines.
The first day we used the Body Solid Functional Trainer we did shoulders and arms. I had to stabilize a bit stronger with my core before starting the overhead shoulder press movement. Once I adjusted the weights I stepped away from the machine with my back to the machine. I had the single stirrup handles provided with machine beside me palms toward my body, then I slowly lifted my arms while keeping my elbows close to my body. When I raised my hands to my biceps, palms now facing each other, then I slowly lifted my hands straight above my head, palms now facing forward in top of the shoulder press position. At this position my core was actively engaged which felt great. I let my elbows come down in a controlled motion as far as they could without "flaring" my hands away from my body. Basically you want to make the movement controlled with your hands coming as close to your shoulders as you can, then push back to top of shoulder press movement slowly. By doing this and every movement on the Functional Trainer slow you maintain resistance constantly and therefore if you maintain proper form you will benefit from each movement. The objective on the Functional Trainer is not to lift the entire weight stack every lift, the objective is to train smarter and get better results.
With the benefit of being able to perform every dumbbell exercise and do many lower body exercises, the Functional Trainer will from now on be a staple in my exercise routine. And you have to love the fact there is a chin up bar across the front of the Body Solid Functional Trainer so you can train your back properly along with core exercises.
Oh by the way the single grip handles which come standard with the Body Solid Functional Trainer have 4 separate connector points which hook to the machine so you can adjust the distance which you want the grips to be in relation to the machine. For example when I do bicep curls I stand directly in between the adjustment posts and let my arms hang along side my body before curling. At this point I have the single stirrup handles in a shorter ring to allow me to always have resistance during the exercise.
The only accessory I have added to the Functional Trainer so far is "add on" plates so I can adjust 2.5 pounds and 5 pound increments. www.fitnessrush.com also has add on plates along with many other accessory bars for the Body Solid GDCC21o Functional Trainer.
When comparing this Functional Trainer to dumbbells you will determine along with saving money you will save space in your gym and have all the options you need to perform proper functional training exercises with safety, proper function, and great natural form.
